The 3 college boys who burned several rural churches last year have been sentenced to 7-8 years in prison and a combined restitution of 3.1 million dollars. Russell DeBusk, 20, will serve 7 years and Matthew Cloyd, 21, and Benjamin Moseley, 20, will both serve 8 years. The diference in time is because the two decided to set more fires in a different area to throw investigators off their tracks. Obviously that didn't work! They faced a minimum of 7 years because 2 firefighters were injured at one of the churches.
Some of the churches offered forgiveness and the 3 accused apologized before the sentencing. Evidently, they were spotlighting deers and unable to find any, decided to set fires instead. Had they not been drinking, common sense might've convinced them that that was not a good idea! Hard to imagine being that young--or any age--and faced with repaying millions of dollars! Really sad all the way around.
