Medal of Honor Day

That was actually yesterday but I'm just now getting around to it.
Did you see retired Col Robert Howard on the news? He helped Barry and some other old soldiers put a wreath on the tomb of the unknown. During a 13 month period in Viet Nam he was recommended for the Medal of Honor three times. The first two times it was reduced down to a lesser medal, but the third time he was given the Medal of Honor. He was shot numerous times but survived all of it. He's retired, now, and goes to Iraq to help train the soldiers there.
One of the amazing people walking on the face of the earth!

Spring Has Sprung..

and stingers have stung and I have a fevah!

We may yet have more cool weather--we've had snow in April before! But I am looking forward to some warm, breezy days! Of course, with spring comes tornadoes, unfortunately. We'll just have to hope we survive! Other than that, it's my favorite time of year. Well, pollen can be rough, but everything else is great. Oh, I forgot about the bugs! They're not so nice with the biting and stinging! But otherwise, spring is great!

I bet you like it, too! (Look out for that wasp!)

Speaking of wasps: When I was about ten I came up to spend some time with my aunt, uncle and two cousins and we went to their "country" house for the day. Actually, it was a small frame house. I think my aunt might've planted some vegetables there or we were supposed to clean up the yard. What we were doing is chasing each other around and around the house! I would love to have some of that energy back! I'm not sure we saw the wasps' nest up in the corner of the porch, loaded for action! When we got to the back, we'd hop onto the porch and one of those times the wasps decided they'd had enough and covered me! I was busy trying to knock them off and only being partially successful at it! When it was over, we counted 13 sting marks. The one on my arm closed to my elbow got to stay on the longest and it left a very visible scar for quite some time. My aunt sent my cousins next door for some ice and I think I spend the rest of the day shivering under ice.

You have to watch out for the stingers!

If a tree falls....

Last week-end, we had a whole lotta rain! Not for 40 days but all week-end with only a little let up on Sunday. At the end of 2 days worth, we heard the loud noise that sounded like some weird thunder--even though we had not been having any before. My son said it might've been a tree and I agreed. We have a forest behind us and we've heard a tree or two fall since we've lived here but it's been awhile! We turned on the outside lights but with all the rain, we couldn't see much. The next day it was still raining and very cloudy and we still couldn't see much. The sun finally came out on Tues and we saw that there was indeed a new tree laying on the floor of the forest. It wasn't as big as it sounded--it shook the ground. Just glad it was far enough away that we weren't in danger. I've always been afraid that the huge tree that is closest to us might decide to fall and ruin our day..and week.  Actually, it could be deadly.

I've been looking at houses online for the past few months and may I say--I'm sick of it! If you're trying to sell your house, why don't you put pictures up so people know what it looks like? I'm not ready to talk to agents, yet, so when a house doesn't have pictures posted I don't look at it any more. I have never seen so many dark, dark red rooms. Is there anything you can paint over that that it wouldn't show through? And who wants to move and then paint? Not me!

If I sound like a crazy person, I may be! I'd like to get this move over and I'd very much like for my foot to heal!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

When Irish eyes are smiling

they're usually up to something!

Enjoy the day with all the greenness! Did you know that Patrick was actually British, Ireland never had snakes and the holiday was started in America by Irish-Americans but Ireland took it up to boost tourism?

An Awww Story

SPOKANE, Wash. – The mysterious mewing in Vickie Mendenhall's home started about the time she bought a used couch for $27. After days of searching for the source of the noise, she found a very hungry calico cat living in her sofa.

Her boyfriend, Chris Lund, was watching TV on Tuesday night and felt something move inside the couch. He pulled it away from the wall, lifted it up and there was the cat, which apparently crawled through a small hole on the underside.

Mendenhall contacted Value Village, where she bought the couch, but the store had no information on who donated it. So she took the cat to SpokAnimal CARE, the animal shelter where she works, so it could recover, and contacted media outlets in hopes of finding the owner.

Sure enough, Bob Killion of Spokane showed up to claim the cat on Thursday after an acquaintance alerted him to a TV story about it. Killion had donated a couch on Feb. 19, and his 9-year-old cat, Callie, disappeared at about the same time.

Poor Nancy

http://www.redstate.com/jeff_emanuel/2009/03/11/pelosi-i-never-demanded-a-bigger-plane-evidence-yes-she-did/

Poor Nancy Pelosi can't or doesn't want to pay for her airline tickets so she has the Air Force flying her around. Of course, you know who's paying for all this--the taxpayers! It costs twice as much as it would for her and her party ro fly commercial but then they'd have to go through airports and mingle with the common people. Well, Nancy is just too special for that! She even had the gall to ask for a bigger plane and then lied when asked about it.

A lyin' politician. Imagine that! I guess she was too shy to tell them what a special, valued person she was. Right.

Kennedy Needs Us to Pay for A Bldg

Someone should tell Ted "fat cat" Kennedy that if he can't afford to pay $5.8 MILLION for his little building--more like a momument to himself--then he doesn't need it! Maybe the people in Massachusetts who were dumb enough to keep electing him would want to pay for it. I doubt most Americans care if he has one or not! Do you think he's planning a special section for Mary Jo?

Just a pork chop in the stimulus bill.

Pfttt!
