Happy Birthday, Cowboy

TA--DA! You may applaud now!

You have no idea how long this took! I had a couple of pictures of Tom that I hadn't used and I'm not having much luck finding them, now. He is one super fine specimen of a man and a joy to behold. At least that's how I see him!

Happy Birthday to my favorite cowboy, Tom Selleck. No one can fill out his boots the way he does!

Happy Birthdays!

Today is the birthday of the man, Tom Selleck and also the beginning of my third year behind the keyboard. I did one post and my son lost it when he was trying to show me something on the new computer. If my mood improves I may give it another try!

Bloody computers!

Idiots R They!

Expecting some money from the nation's capitol, are you? You know what they say about counting your chickens before they hatch? Bet on it--or better still, take a trip out to Las Vegas and throw some money around. You'd most likely be just as lucky if not more so.

This is what the stimulus bill contains:

We've looked it over, and even we can't quite believe it. There's $1 billion for Amtrak, the federal railroad that hasn't turned a profit in 40 years; $2 billion for child-care subsidies; $50 million for that great engine of job creation, the National Endowment for the Arts; $400 million for global-warming research and another $2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects. There's even $650 million on top of the billions already doled out to pay for digital TV conversion coupons

Heaven help us!

The rest of the good news is here, if you can take it:

The Last Uncle

My last remaining uncle has departed the earth after a long battle with cancer. He had to have part of his lower face removed but refused to give up smoking. When he smoked it would upset his youngest daughter so much she'd have to leave the room.

He was the youngest of four brothers and three sisters. Some interesting facts about him--while a student at UA he worked at the funeral home and I think he lived upstairs sometimes. He delivered his second child at home. They didn't plan it that way but the baby came too fast! That was the talk in our family for a long time. In his later years, he got interested in genealogy and did a lot of research on our family. He had two books published about it. I am also interested in that and am thankful he spent so much time on it.

He was divorced after a long marriage and had four kids. I remember coming up to Birmingham when I was about 10 to go to their wedding which was a bigger than usual affair because his wife's sister also got married that day in a double wedding.

Sad to see the family shrinking in size.

Who's the Hater?

I guess Jeremiah Wright feels picked on and haters are everywhere! I suspect there's even one in his mirror! Poor man! What's the saying about reaping what you sow?

Found this over at Hot Air:

Do You Hear What I Hear?

After spending the past two years dumping on President Bush, Obama has said he always thought he was a good man.

Way to hold back! (snark alert)

American Painter Andrew Wyeth

Andrew Wyeth died in his sleep at the age of 91. He painted one of my favorite paintings--a yellow lab curled up asleep on a bed. You can see some more examples of his art at:

I tried to post it but lost the battle with the new computer!

AhhhHA! I'm Back!

We have a new HP desktop that I'm still getting used to and now that I finally see the dashboard, I think I need a refresher course in blogging! Yipes, did I forget alot! (No comments from the peanut gallery!)

It is crazy cold outside but I will try to connect enough sentences to come up with a post!

Many thanks to Basil for all his help! Thanks for those who came by and left their thoughts! I hope you had a great Christmas and Happy New Year! Two Buchanans who are brothers and have been in Iraq for over a year will be coming home this month and next. Yay for redeployment!

Behave yourselves!
