President McKinney?

I was reading an article (Hot Air) about Cynthia McKinney considering running for president on the green party, I think. Well, to tell the truth, I was laughing so hard it was difficult to see. But I just thought I'd share this visual with you 'cause it's FUNNY! Can you imagine her sitting beside Pelosi? Ye gads!

Natalee Holloway

Imagine not knowing what happened to your beautiful, 18 yr old daughter for two very long years. That's 730 days, 24 hrs a day to think about her. Imagine all the horror stories your mind could come up with, while you try to hold on to the thought that she'll be found alive. I know how crushed my heart would be. And please don't say you're tired of hearing about this. Don't be so heartless as to not care about someone's child.

What if it was your child?

Leopard Drops In For A Snack

A sleeping man in Jerusalem awoke to find a wild leopard in his bed! He was able to pin it down for about 20 mins until help arrived and it was taken away.

Who knew this was a problem in Israel?? It seems when leopards become too old to hunt, they chase down pet dogs and cats for food. The man's cat, as well as his small daughter, were also in the bed. The leopard was very weak or he most likely could not have restrained it! No lie--I've seen leopards hauling animals much larger than they are up trees! (And I can't restrain my cat long enough to do her nails!)

The leopard will probably be released. Umm, now that he knows there's food there, won't he be back?

Memorial Day

Don't forget to say a prayer for our troops who are in harm's way and also their families who are anxiously awaiting their return.

If you are not already involved with sending care packages to the deployed troops, I hope you will begin to do so. If you don't want to get personally involved, you can always make donations to the websites, like Any Soldier or BooksForSoldiers so they can continue doing good things for the soldiers. Treats for Soldiers will send a box of goodies and all you have to do is pay for it--they send it to a soldier. I like picking out what I'm going to send to a soldier and you can usually find a list of things they want on AnySoldier.

Thank you to all the veterans, past and present, male and female. God bless our great country--land of the free because of the brave.

Happy Birthday, Pilgrim

Some things cannot be improved on or replaced. I think that is a very good description of John Wayne. He sure left an empty pair of boots! Too many movies to choose a favorite.

Some quotes from the Duke:

"IF IT HADN'T BEEN FOR FOOTBALL AND THE FACT I GOT MY LEG BROKE AND HAD TO GO INTO THE MOVIES TO EAT, WHY, WHO KNOWS, I MIGHTA TURNED OUT TO BE A LIBERAL DEMOCRAT."

Life is hard, it's harder if you're stupid.

Talk low, talk slow and don't say too much.

If you've got them by their balls, their hearts and minds will follow.

Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway.

I love cowboys!

Bye-bye

"I brought Rosie to the show. Rosie contributed to one of our most exciting and successful years at 'The View.' I am most appreciative. Our close and affectionate relationship will not change," said show creator Barbara Walters.

You could've fooled me, Baba! Not a fan of this show or Rosie, who is a 9-11 truther and unhinged to boot! ABC is saying she won't be back to finish the 3 weeks. What a shame--NOT!

Update: Rosie says she may never speak to Elizabeth again. I hope Elizabeth is rejoicing! Rosie is responsible for what comes out of her mouth, not Elizabeth.

Photo borrowed from LMC--too funny! Click to enlarge if your eyes can take it!.

Snakes Almost on a Plane!

An Egyptian man was arrested at the airport in Cairo after he was discovered to have 700 live snakes in his carry-on bag! The snakes were in small cloth bags and included 2 poisonous cobras! He said he hoped to sell them in Saudia Arabia where some shop owners keep them in glass jars or sell them to research centers.

Holy cow!

NJ Mom Has Twins at 60!

No, that isn't a typo! My question is WHY?

A psychologist (?) and her attorney husband who've been married for over 30 yrs and have 3 other kids went to Cape Town, South Africa, last year to a center that specializes in older mothers and had in vitro fertilization. She said she wanted her 6 yr old son to have siblings closer to his age! I guess this thought didn't occur to them years ago?? She had the twins by c-section and they each weighed 4# 11 ozs. They also have a son, 33 and a 29 yr old daughter. The daughter was quoted as saying she didn't know what her mother was thinking! Me neither!

I'm sorry but this boggles my mind! They should go back and interview her again when the twins are two--if she's still around! heh Yeah, that was ugly. Somebody smack my hand!

Me Meme

Carol, at Alabama Improper, is real busy but she found time to hit me with a meme where I'm to tell 8 things about myself and then torture, er pass it on to 8 more vic, people!

Lock your doors and turn out the lights!!

1. I am still ticked off at Santa 'cause he never brought the horse I asked for --every bloomin' year!

2. I love humor! (If you haven't guessed by now!) My cousin calls me a smarta$$--but laughs while saying it!

3. Everytime I see a Mustang, I want one of the loud, gas guzzlers. I had one some time ago until the husband left it unlocked in a parking lot! We had already settled with the insurance co when it was found.

4. About the same thing happens when I watch a horse race! Makes me want to hop on a horse and say giddy-up! Too many Westerns, I guess! You know the little trick they do where the rider hops over the rump and lands in the saddle? I think I could do that on a pony! heh

5. I love the beach--sand, seagulls, breeze, sound of the ocean--love it all! Sunburn, things with teeth in the water...not so much! But having a house on the beach would be great!

6. I enjoy traveling and if I had deep pockets, would see a lot more of the world. I would even consider living in another country for awhile, maybe. I really like Italy.

7. All the good things I did while pregnant with my son were negated by my dr's failure to show up at the hospital when I went in. He had a dental appt. That's right, my baby had one chance of being born and the dentist was a friend of his who, I'm sure, would've made a special appt for him anytime. I needed a c-section and by the time he got there it was too late and the end result was my son having 2 blood clots on the lining of his brain, surgery at 1 and a lifetime of cerebral palsy. This is not something they tell you. You're left on your own to figure it out for yourself. I might do a post about that ....one day.

8. I have very little technical blogging know-how! Can you tell?!

The Man

Tom Selleck will be on tv this Tuesday CBS 8 CST, as detective
Jesse Stone. I know where I'll be!

5/22-Just saw Tom on the Morning Show talking about the movie and he said he was going to be on another network on a series but no details! He also said they were working on a 5th Jesse Stone movie! More Tom--yay!

Udate: Okay, I've seen it and am alittle irritated by some of it! They need to lose the ex-wife theme! Blech Would've been nice to have seen him in a few romantic scenes. I managed to close my eyes right at the end which is so infuriating! I missed about 5 mins! Woke up in the gun shoot out! Like the dog but he never made a sound--even with the shooting! It was good to see Tom and I'm very curious about the tv show he's going to be in next year.

A Prayer

Dear Lord,

Isn't it time to bring the peanut farmer home.............PLEASE??!

Ack! Carter says Bush is worst president in history. No, no, no! Someone tap Jimmeh on the shoulder and tell him HE has that title all wrapped up!

Does he still live in Plains, GA? I think we should all send him a post card with a small suggestion--SHUT-UP!!!

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,273937,00.html

UPDATE:Former President Jimmy Carter backed off Monday from harshly critical comments he made of President Bush over the weekend after the White House offered a biting rebuke to the former president by calling him "increasingly irrelevant."

And Jimmeh admitted he had no "authority"! Really?!?!

Body Parts

Biomedical Tissue services. Their slogan may have been: If you need it, we can get it! Body parts, that is! From bodies in funeral homes in New York City, Rochester, Philadelphia and New Jersey.

Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes called it "something out of a cheap horror movie.

''Prosecutors said Thursday the defendants made millions of dollars obtaining bodies from funeral parlors in three states and forging death certificates and organ donor consent forms to make it look as if the bones, skin, tendons, heart valves and other tissue were legally removed

Does this make your skin crawl like mine?!

Tiger, tiger burning bright

China is trying to talk India into letting them farm tigers--those most beautiful of animals--for their body parts and pelts!
Aren't we suppose to be trying to save them from extinction???

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18720080/

TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?

Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Alexander Hai - brava!

After a decade of struggling to become a gondolier, Alexander Hai has won a moral victory. A court recently allowed her to paddle around the canals of Venice - but only for the residents of one of the city's hotels. "Brava gondoliera! Brava!" shouted one man from his third-story balcony on the Rio de la Veste canal as Hai paddled past, shepherding a couple from Utah on their honeymoon. The man on the balcony, clenching a glass of champagne, beckoned his friends to take a look as Hai's boat and passengers slipped by.

This is a male dominated job and they are not happy with Hai. Being a gondolier is usually passed down from father to son. They say she isn't strong enough and cannot pass the test to become a gondolier.

I was lucky enough to go to Italy on two different occasions, but did not get to see Venice, where all this drama is taking place. I was very disappointed--twice! I saw Pisa, Rome, Florence, Naples, and Pompeii, but no Venice. And I absolutely would not have cared who was steering the gondola! You have to give her credit, though, for the abuse she's taken but hasn't backed down!

Bo Diddley

Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Bo Diddley, 78, is in guarded condition in a Omaha, Nebraska, hospital following a stroke after a concert Sunday night. His speech and left side were impacted. He had a history of hypertension and diabetes.

He was one of my cousin's favorites when he was in high school. Whenever I would be at his house, he'd be listening to one of his albums--the songs I most remember are "Who Do You Love" and "I'm a Man".

In this corner…….

I'm thinking of taking up boxing! I have a plate full of stress and somehow I think pounding on something would help! I know I'm not alone, at least that's what I keep telling myself, but for some reason it doesn't make my stress feel any lighter! My BP and BS are still elevated from last fall when my eye blew a vein, even though I'm on more meds. How do you convince your body to relax? Okay, for some of you that may be a loaded question! Not going there! I just wish there was something you could do to alleve stress.

I went to the dr's about 2 wks ago and the front desk was making an announcement about someone's car lights being on as I was about to leave--guess who's they were? Yep and I couldn't turn them off! I still had things I had to do and now, I had a problem that could cause the battery to die on me! I did what I had to do, all the time worrying about whether or not I was going to have a working car! It was too late to take it somewhere so I called a friend and he said to undo the battery but be careful. I looked at the battery but was afraid to touch it and couldn't figure out how to unplug the tail lights, so I resigned myself to having a dead battery in the morning. It was. I called several people and nothing was looking promising. I was really afraid it was going to be a major problem. Meanwhile, the a/c stopped putting out cool air and when I went outside to check on it, I fell about 5' off the stairs. Thankfully, nothing was broken, but let me assure you EVERYTHING was bruised and hurt! And is still hurting plenty!

Anyway, after over a week without a car, the son-in-law of my cousin in GA came and tried jumping the car off and adding brake fluid, but the lights were still on and that didn't fix the problem. He said it might be the brake light button and got his cousin to come over and replace it, just as a thunder storm showed up! The brake pedal had been feeling cushy and I had been pressing on it real hard, which I guess is what caused the problem with the lights!

About this time--after the car was running again--I remembered I'd forgotten to pay the phone bill! I remembered because, they turned the phone off! I drove to a grocery store that has a pay phone inside and did a check over the phone and went home. I didn't know what was taking so long for the phone to be turned on, but assumed it would be. (My back makes it very uncomfortable to find a position I can sleep in and I mostly sleep in spurts, so the phone was in 2nd place in priorities!) Yesterday, I tried to check at the library on the computer but gave up and went back to the store. That dept was closed, of course! Now, I'm mad. The phone co gave the new Publix a number one digit off from ours and we get calls all the time from people wanting to know "Is this Publix?" This is not making me happy! So.....today I went back to the store and made another call and refused to talk to the dam machine. I talked to someone and he said they didn't have a payment showing and switched me to someone else. I repeated my story and she asked for my confirmation number and I said I didn't have one but I had given my routing number and my checking account number and she repeated her spiel. I asked how was I suppose to know about that? We were going back and forth saying abou the same things. I told her I would do a check over the phone again. She said it would be 2-3 hours for it to be turned on and would I like to talk to someone else about the phone number and I said no, I'm standing in the middle of a grocery store--what I didn't say was that I was so mad I could hardly talk with my teeth clenched! Amazingly, the phone was on when I got home about 5 mins later!

There's more, but I won't completely spill my guts! Just believe me when I say I have enough stress to go around if you need some! And I know there are problems more severe!

Happy Mother’s Day

Why God Made Moms

Answers given by 2nd grade school children to the following
questions:

Why did God make mothers?
1. She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
2. Mostly to clean the house.
3. To help us out of there when we were getting born.

How did God make mothers?
1. He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
2. Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
3. God made my Mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.

What ingredients are mothers made of ?
1. God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
2. They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they
mostly use string, I think.

Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
1. We're related.
2. God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

What kind of little girl was your mom?
1. My Mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
2. I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
3. They say she used to be nice.

What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
1. His last name.
2. She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he
get drunk on beer?
3. Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores?

Why did your mom marry your dad?
1. My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my Mom eats a lot.
2. She got too old to do anything else with him.
3. My grandma says that Mom didn't have her thinking cap on.

Who's the boss at your house?
1. Mom doesn't want to be boss, but she has to because dad's such a goof ball.
2. Mom. You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
3. I guess Mom is, but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.

What's the difference between moms & dads?
1. Moms work at work and work at home and dads just go to work at work.
2. Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
3. Dads are taller & stronger, but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you got to ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.
4. Moms have magic, they make you feel better without medicine.

What does your mom do in her spare time?
1. Mothers don't do spare time.
2. To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.

What would it take to make your mom perfect?
1. On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some
kind of plastic surgery.
2. Diet. You know, her hair. I'd diet, maybe blue.

If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
1. She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
2. I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
3. I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

Remember your Mothers this Sunday! And yes, that means the mother of your children, too!

More Moore

The US Treasury Dept has sent a letter to Michael Moore to inform him of their investigation of his trip to Cuba with ten ailing Ground Zero workers for health care services.

Moore's opponents have accused him of distorting the facts, and his Cuba trip provoked criticism from conservatives including former Republican Sen. Fred Thompson, who assailed the filmmaker in a blog at National Review Online.

"I have no expectation that Moore is going to tell the truth about Cuba or health care," wrote Thompson, the subject of speculation about a possible presidential run. "I defend his right to do what he does, but Moore's talent for clever falsehoods has been too well documented."

Moore is at it again and plans to release his latest "movie" Sicko at the Cannes Film Festival. Oh goody, we get to see his fat, ugly face ad nauseam. Barf bag, anyone?

OJ Told No Service

Jeff Ruby, owner of an upscale steakhouse in Louisville, KY, told OJ Simpson he would not be served in his restaurant! Yea Jeff! OJ was seated with a party of about 12 people when Mr. Ruby went to the table and told him he would not be served. OJ said he understood and left. Afterwards, people began applauding the owner. Too bad he isn't treated that way everywhere he goes!

OJ's attorney said it was about RACE and he intended to go after the liquor license. Oh yes, it's all about race! Shyster.

Milblog Conference

If you go over to Milblogging.com, JP has the video that President George Bush sent to the Milblog Conference this week-end. Also, lots of bloggers reporting on the event. I was able to watch some of the conference live and join in a chat room for several hours, but had to give up after lunch due to the fall I had the other day! I didn't know just sitting could be quite so painful!

Check out the president's message to the conference!

And the winners are……………

Eric and Danielle! Funny, after all her whining about wanting to go home! It looked like a pretty tight race and the beauty queens were right on their heels, as were Charla and Mirna! Charla had a pair of shoes with wheels in them and when they were scooting through terminals, she would let Mirna pull her--which, at least, stopped the yelling! Run, Charla, run--you have got to run!

I was surprised that the girls got into an argument and it happened when I was alittle distracted so I'm not sure what caused it--other than stress! High stress, no sleep, lots of possibilities! You could see disappointment on their faces, as well as, Charla and Mirna's. Missing out on a million dollars has got to hurt!

If you're interested in details, you can find them at CBS.com.

Update: They were on Regis and Kelly and I saw some of it. They are no longer dating and have alreadt replaced the other one! Danielle had on a very short, white, very strapless dress! There was a lot of her showing! They claimed it was a mutual decision to not date any more. He claimed she was high maintenance and mentoned the coffee she wanted when he said they didn't have enough money. She said they only didn't have enough money when it was something she wanted! Hmmmm, I wonder how they would've handled a million smackers! She said she was going to do some shopping and invest most of the money. He said some friends are trying to sell him a house in FL but keep going up on the price and he wants to invest his also. I sure hope they can both live off $500,000--for a few days! I don't remember if they won trips together!

Sunday, May 6, 2007

Tonight’s the night!

One of these teams will have a million dollars at the end of tonight's show! Actually, since it's filmed in advance, they've already won. I think I'm in the beauty queens' corner. We shall see if the girls are up to the challenge!

If there is any driving of stick shifts, Mirna is in trouble! It's been fun to watch her struggle with the cars. Although I learned to drive on a VW, I'd be on trouble if I had to drive one now! And I've been calling Charla by the wrong name! I thought it was Charna--must be her cousin's accent!

Eric and Danielle get into trouble when under pressure, so they could cancel themselves out if things get too trickly! Eric might bebefit from some anger management!

The girls are good team players and I hope they are on their game tonight! Show 'em what ya got girls!

Oh no-o-o-o-o-o!

Not Mr Bill, but I had a little accident today. As I touched the handrail on the back steps, it gave way and took me with it! I landed with a hard thud at about 5', which hurt! I don't think I broke anything--I might be shorter-- but I'm very uncomfortable and something tells me, it'll be worse tomorrow! So, it may take me a couple of days to catch up which shouldn't be a problem since only a few people have been by! Carry on!

Spring has sprung!

Does this remind you of spring? Does me! It was so pretty last Friday, I decided to sit outside for alittle while and commune with nature! There's a lot of it to commune with, too! We are on the edge of a state park and our backyard is ALL trees! A month or so ago, we were covered in pollen, but after a few storms most of that is 'gone with the wind'! (heh)

There is a road that goes beside us up into the park. It's a very steep road and coming down, just before you get to us, there is a slight curve. Since we've been here--about 12 yrs--at least 3 people have been killed in that very spot! The problem seems to be not slowing down. People seem to loose control right about there! The first time, I had gone to the store and the kids were home (old enough to stay by themselves) and when I got within sight of our house, here was this long line of all kinds of emergency vehicles! My heart crawled into my throat as I wondered what on earth had happened! Scared me silly! When I got closer, I could tell it was more concentrated beside us and up alittle. A van had gone off the road and an elderly woman was killed.

The last fatality was a Mexican man who was in a van that turned over. One of the firemen told me that he was the one we'd seen walkng around holding his stomach. Someone else left by helicopter after traffic was stopped. The last to arrive and leave was the coroner's truck.

Last year, someone landed in our front yard. I didn't see it, but he must've had wings! And one morning around 4 am, I heard a car and looked across the road from us where someone had gone off the other side of the road, which is steeper, and all you could see were headlights moving around. I knew he would not be able to get out by himself, so I called the sheriff's dept and told them he needed help! He eventually got pulled out by a tow truck--I would've liked to have heard that story!

There are always accidents going on around here and I think it's mostly people going too fast and not paying attention--people live here and turn on all the side roads! Not long ago, I was waiting to turn left and I heard tires start screaming and thought, oh no! I saw a car in my mirror skid off to the left, in front of the car I was waiting on! Lucky for him, that side had an almost level shoulder and he was able to get back on the road!

We used to see lots of deers, but since they opened the park to hunting, we seldom see any. One day, I was in the backyard and a deer hopped over the road into our yard in daylight! We just stood there and looked at each other, frozen, and then he went bounding off into the woods and was gone before I knew it! We also used to see lots of raccoons with their babies but since they started putting out something for rabies, we hardly ever see them. They could be annoying but were cute, too. I don't know if we have bears or bobcats, but I think about that sometimes if I walk down to the mailboxes in the dark! (It usually makes me walk faster!) But that would be a rude surprise!

This is my favorite time of year. Warm and not muggy! Doesn't get any better!

Now if only we could convince people to be more careful driving! Please!

Update: Okay we have had a raccoon siting and a memory refresher about how annoying they can be!
